Who we are
NAEL Foundation — Nurturing and Advancing Early Life Foundation — is a Tanzanian not-for-profit organisation committed to improving the wellbeing of children and adolescents from conception through adolescence.
We bring together families, communities, institutions and partners to strengthen the systems children rely on and to create environments where every child can flourish.
Why NAEL Foundation began
NAEL Foundation was created in honour of little Nael and from a shared determination to help children grow up safer, stronger and surrounded by informed, supported caregivers.
A shared beginning
The story begins with two friends, Aika and Beatrice, who entered motherhood at almost the same time. Their children were born only hours apart, and the two families shared the joy, hopes and dreams that come with welcoming new life.
The joy of Nael
Nael was a healthy, joyful baby whose curiosity and laughter brought happiness to the people around her. At eight months old, she was discovering the world with the wonder and energy of a growing child.
A life-changing moment
Nael died following a sudden choking emergency. Her loss highlighted how important practical emergency knowledge, timely support and safe environments are for every family caring for a young child.
Purpose and legacy
In Nael's honour, the founders chose to build something that could protect and uplift other children. That commitment became NAEL Foundation: supporting families, strengthening child-centred systems and helping every child have the opportunity to grow, learn and thrive.
